These gifts honor Barbara Bailey’s incredible legacy and will allow our Association to establish and award this long-awaited Cranberry PTA Scholarship to high school students for years to come!
We thank the Bailey family for choosing Massachusetts PTA – Cranberry PTA Scholarship to honor Barbara Bailey. She will be deeply missed, and her legacy will continue to live on through the mission of PTA ~ “to make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children”.
What is Cranberry PTA?
Cranberry PTA is a unit of the Massachusetts PTA and the National PTA. This statewide unit was organized to reach out to those interested in issues related to children and youth. It also enables those who may not be presently connected with a local unit to be a PTA member. Every Cranberry PTA member is a member of this local unit, the Massachusetts PTA, and the National PTA. Membership is open to anyone who is concerned with the education, health, and welfare of children and youth and who supports the Mission and Purposes of PTA.
What is the Cranberry PTA Scholarship?
This is a scholarship that will be awarded to a student whose parent/guardian is a member of PTA, or they are a member of PTA.
Why was this unit important to Barbara Bailey?
Barbara truly embodied the definition of a fierce child advocate. Barbara was a dedicated PTA member for over 50 years! She was PTA flexible and she did everything she could to learn new skills as the PTA evolved and the needs shifted. She learned this software, Givebacks, as well as Google workspace and many more! She knew how to update and copy a spreadsheet. There was no thought about a digital PTA when she first joined, and she worked extremely hard to better the state PTA until the very end. She put her heart and soul into PTA, and it was only fitting her family chose PTA as a way to honor her.
